Monday Mumbling ... Are you sure your hand is supposed to be THERE!?

So I won't say I'm a "fan" of fisting but I've read some scenes that seemed to work okay for me. I'll be honest, before I read m/m, fisting was some kind of ethereal urban legend. I'd never run across it in any of the PNR I'd been reading and certainly not in my bodice-ripper days of my youth.(I'm not even sure those women gave blow jobs back then.) I think I was a bit "surprised" the first time it cropped up and I may have only been reading with one eye. Then later I went back and read it with both eyes and ... well, I could see the appeal for both parties, despite possible ouchies. So these are a couple of the books I've read where it worked okay for me. Feel free to share your own favourites or your opinion on the practice (in fiction ;-). Do you refuse to read anything with more than 3 fingers involved in the nether regions?

So this was rather like flinging myself into the deep end. I think it was my first m/m/m and twincest to boot. Oh wait, fisting. Ack! However Chris Owen is one of my favourite authors and I confess this is an often reread for me. What can I say, I like the pervy stuff.

Given that I like Chris Owen, stands to reason I'd like Drew Zachary. In Loving the Rain (stupidest cover ever) two normal young guys (in my city) suddenly decide on some fisting one night. Umm. Okay. Anyway, I liked the short so much it didn't throw me off but it was kind out of the blue which Kassa addressed on post.

Ally pulled in a bit of Crisco realism and humour into her scenes in Where the Heart Is. It probably fit more than it did in the previous book as there was the whole D/s thing going which seems to go hand in hand (HAHAHAHAHA) with fisting.

These are the only ones I can think of off hand. As I noted, it's not something I've heard of it m/f romance, but maybe I just don't read the right books. :-) I don't go searching them out m/m though. I know there was a book lately that had a fisting scene on the side of the road with no lube. Ack! At least these put the emphasis on prep, not just ram it up there. I think this is one of those practices for me that I can enjoy in fiction on the page, but am happy to have it stay here.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

The side of the road one was Roxy Harte - I'm Not Gay, I'm sure - but I do remember lube & a very handy latex glove!

Guess it should have been on-hand Kris, like a puppet. :-P

Ah, a latex glove Juni. That's unusual.

I forgot Sean Micheal. I'm SURE there are a bunch of those that have some fisting, although off the top of my head it's escaping me. Jarheads probably but I haven't read those much.

The first fisting scene I ever read was in an M/M historical Stealing West by Jamie Craig, and it happened at the end of the book. In retrospect, it made sense because there was a D/s theme running through the book and usually there has to be a big boundary-pushing moment at the end of a D/s book.

At the time, though, I was so clueless that I was reading it only as a historical, and completely had a "WTF" reaction at the end, like, "Did they even KNOW about that in 1880?" Ha, ha! And it was a really good historical up to that point.

"Did they even KNOW about that in 1880?"

That's a good point Val. Well, I'm sure someone thought about it, but it does seem a bit out of the norm for the time period.

I had to go back to Kris's fisting post to help my memory beyond Where the Heart Is. I totally don't remember the fisting scene in A Bad Case of Loving You by Laney Cairo, but obviously I'll have to reread the book.

It seems like it's in a lot of books I've read recently, but I can't remember which ones...

Perhaps in an effort to preserve your innocence Chris, your brain has blocked those incidents out. :-)

It's like SM, I have a ton of books and I'm positive there must have been some but ... It obviously didn't leave an impression.

I'm pretty sure that's a pointless attempt at this point...

Definitely in the Jarheads book or at least number 3 which is the one I read :).

I've read a few fisting scenes (can remember specific books!)and it's OK. I think I just don't really get the appeal or the whole psychology of it, so these scenes don't really float my boat, if you see what I mean. They aren't really a turn on and I could quite happily never read a fisting scene again.

It has to fit with the rest of the book.
I admit to watching a vid with fisting in it. There wasn't anything "romantic" about it, just a lot of hard work. If I may call it like that.

MFC has a fisting scene, right at the last page. And Special forces has a few.

Tam said...

I'm with you Jen. It doesn't freak me out but I wouldn't miss it if I never ran across it again either.

I admit I watched one too Ingrid. You're right, it didn't seem very ... romantic? LOL Okay, it was porn, it's not romantic by nature, but it just seemed rather mechanical and boring. Sometimes it seems to be used in books to prove something, that the one guy will let the other do ANYTHING as a sign of his love, and if you love someone then by extension anything they do is hot. Not. :-)

I read my first fisting back in February, although it was very erotic in the book, I still cringe a little...

Tam said...

I think we cringe because we know real life isn't quite like fiction. It's hard to ignore that fact even when it's well-written Patti. :-) Ouch.

Great post, Tam - love that For Sale sign!!!

Heidi Cullinan's written the odd good fisting scene (although I can't now remember which books), and there was a fabulous short story by GR Richards in the Boy Fun anthology called "The Fist". Plenty of prep in that one, and the fistee was lying on a bag full of packing peanuts in a warehouse, which for some reason pleased me immensely :)

Tam said...

Packing peanuts. LOL Yes, that is amusing. I hate those things, they end up everywhere.

I think Nowhere Ranch had a fisting scene. I haven't read it yet though and maybe another.

READING about fisting? Watching one scene where it's all mechanical? Tam, sweetie, I am gonna HAVE to clue you in to good porn. :)

HUGS...

Tam said...

You just want to destroy my innocence Polt. :-P And really, I'm good with the fisting I've already seen, no more is necessary. I'll stick to more vanilla practices.

That For Sale Sign made me think of a porn I was just watching with what I "THOUGHT" was a rubber fist (it looked like a PVC "T" all lubed up and full of c0ck) but now I realize that is NOT what you are talking about. HA!

Anyway, I just read a Sean Micheal with fisting - BENT - where the fistee is so freakin' submissive it makes my brain hurt. LOL

Tam said...

Ah, no, not quite that Miranda. I'm so proud of you for casually throwing out the line "the porn I was just watching". LOL

Oh yeah, if anyone would go for it, it would be Jim. Mind you, he'd probably agree to fuck a porcupine if Marcus asked. Sigh. I don't really remember the scene, I must have been glazed over by that point.
