I got nuthin'. How about some music?

So I've been reading Christmas stories like mad and posting on Brief Encounters. I've read maybe one other longer book but I don't really have much to say here. I've also been piddling around on-line, I blame Kris and Kaasa for distracting me and not getting much constructive done. My house? Ack! Thank god I'm off next week. It needs some serious maintenance. I'm looking forward to having a whole week off work and staying home. I've never done that I don't think. We usually go somewhere the minute I get more than a day off. I have lots of last minute Christmas things to take care of though so I'm sure the days will fly by. 11 days in a row off work will be nice though.

My daughter is finished school at 10:00 tomorrow. Why they even bother going for 2 hours is beyond me. LOL Oh well. Just so you don't think I've dropped off the face of the earth here are a couple of my favourite Christmas songs. Years ago, like 20, I got this cassette set of Christmas songs from Reader's Digest and they were all really old and I've been hooked on the old classics ever since. I'm no so much a fan of Mariah, Jessica Simpson and the other pop stars warbling out their songs, but Bing Crosby, Perry Como and Kate Smith. Sigh.

I can't believe I found this one. Woohoo. What an amazing voice. KATE SMITH sings CHRISTMAS EVE IN MY HOME TOWN

Perry Como - Silver Bells

This is a short version but I love when we can see the original performers doing it live. The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole

Maye next week I'll post a couple of more faves. Have a great Thursday everyone and hope all your holiday plans are going smoothly.

11 days off work! Good for you! Sometimes the best vacations are the ones where you don't go anywhere but home.

Thanks for sharing the vids. Lots of memories there.

Maybe that's why I enjoy them so much Wren. They bring back the warm squishy memories of Christmas as a kid.

I'm kind of looking forward to hanging around home with the kid and taking it easy (relatively speaking).

Staycations are very relaxing. I have 4.5 days I need to use by the end of the year, but things are crazy at work, so I'll probably have to comp the time next year.

I always feel that staycations are a waste of my valuable holiday time Chris. I only get so many days but the rest of the year I'm at home. But we'll see. I still have 3 weeks left until April 1 (but I can carry over 6 weeks or something weird) so I'm thinking maybe spring break in Chicago with the kid. Always planning. :-)

Hope you get a break at work. Mine has been crazy as people try to cram everything in before people start leaving on vacation.

LOL! I consider relaxing, reading, and wandering around my neighborhood to be valid uses of holiday time. :D

Don't blame Kassa and me cos you can't resist gay pron.

I love the classic carols, too. Enjoy your staycation!

I always feel the need to explore somewhere else Chris. I've seen my neighborhood. Let's move on. LOL Guess I have itchy feet.

Oh great and these two don't shut up either. I knew I'd suddenly have a bazillion tweets. Thanks Kris, thanks for that. But now I'm compelled to know how his Christmas visit with his Mom went so I can't unfollow. Grrrr. *shakes fist*

Thanks Michelle. Hope you guys have a nice holiday too.

Awwww, "Silver Bells" (might've even been that version) was my mother's favorite Christmas song. *sniff*

Hanging around home is more appealing to me by the month. Especially in winter. ;-)

Thanks for the memories! And aren't you the lucky one. I'd love 11 days off from work. Staycation or vacation, either one will work for me.

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL! You should have seen me watching his tweets avidly for goss about the Mustang Studios Xmas party and he & Chris' birthday party last weekend. Nothing like living vicariously. ;P

I just want to go somewhere warm KZ. :-) Even for a week. Sigh. But not this winter.

Thanks Lily. I am looking forward to it although we have some minor crises popping up that is making me think I might be checking my e-mail from home next week. Grrrr. Stupid last minute stuff. Oh well, better to do it in my jammies than have to get dressed and drag myself in.

Ah Kris. You are a naughty girl. ;-) And I love ya for it.

Enjoy your 11 days off work, Tam. Too bad that you have the maintenance thing to do. :(
I hope you can find some serious time to relax and read and do fun stuff too!

If I work really hard this weekend Janna and get things finished up then I hope next week I can take it easy, oh and wrap all those gifts. Haven't even STARTED that yet. Have a nice weekend.

I love the oldie Christmas music, too. Unless it's the new Glee CD. I'm seriously addicted to that one.

I think if we have a week it takes us a week to clean Miranda, if we have two days then it takes two days. I'm afraid I'll drag it out. We'll see. Have a good weekend.

The new Glee CD is good Stephani. To be honest we don't seem to listen to much Christmas music. Not sure why.

I adore the Perry Como. My husband thinks I'm nuts. My oldests Kindergarten teacher made a Christmas CD for all the kids in her class way back when and it's got the best songs on it! The Como was one and I just can't live without it at Christmas time. :)

His voice is so smooth and no autotune. :-) You know those people form the old days had talent because you couldn't get by just wearing your underwear out in public.
